GCC Intensifies Footpath Cleaning Drive Across Chennai

The Greater Chennai Corporation (GCC) has launched a night-time footpath cleaning drive to ensure safe and pedestrian-friendly pathways. This initiative, part of an ongoing citywide cleaning effort, includes garbage removal, debris clearing, and addressing obstructions like overgrown vegetation and abandoned vehicles.
Authorities have also begun repairing damaged footpaths, installing stainless steel railings for pedestrian safety, and removing unnecessary internet and EB cables. The drive extends to roads, bus stops, parks, flyovers, and burial grounds, ensuring clean and hygienic public spaces.
GCC is monitoring littering through CCTV cameras and imposes penalties on violators to maintain cleanliness.
