The Greater Chennai Traffic Police (GCTP), in collaboration with the State Bank of India, has introduced UPI/QR code payment for traffic fines. Motorists can now visit echallan.parivahan.gov.in, enter their challan number, vehicle registration number, or driving licence number, and proceed with payment by selecting the UPI option on the SBI ePay page.
This initiative aims to enhance digital payment options and make fine payments more convenient. GCTP introduced the e-challan system in 2011 and added cashless payment options, including cards, Paytm, post offices, and TN e-Seva centres, in 2017.
