Tackling electricity supply demand during the upcoming summer across TN!!- Things to know!!

On Friday, 24th January, the TN electricity minister Mr. V. Senthil Balaji mentioned that TNPDCL or Tamil Nadu Power Distribution Corporation Limited was taking several steps to tackle power or electricity demand during summer season in the state.

The minister was busy regarding the review meeting with some electricity department officials at the head office in Chennai. The important information revealed by the electricity minister was that as many as 48 new substations have been installed to strengthen the power grid. There is also a proposal to install 20 substations throughout Tamil Nadu to provide uninterrupted power supply.

It is learnt that in addition to the new substations the electricity officials have also upgraded transformers in 260 locations with work in progress in upgrading 22 transformers.

During the NE monsoon in TN, many maintenance staff belonging to the electricity department did sensational work in districts like Cuddalore, Villupuram and Tiruvannamalai etc. It is noteworthy that these staffs restored the power supply within a few days by replacing 12265 damaged electricity poles, 343 pillar boxes, 680.86km of power lines, 485 transformers and 16 substations that were affected by Cyclone Fengal.
