HR experts now expect an increase in hiring activities by 30 to 40 per cent post-elections. According to them, the general elections will play a very major part in the job market. They say India Inc may have to hire nearly twelve or fourteen lakh workers in the present year in order to match with business needs existing currently.
Consultants added that the hiring activities would substantially increase if the Lok Sabha elections result in formation of a stable government having minimal alliance partners. “Job opportunities may rise up to 20 lakh eventually,” they added. Despite the 10 lakh job openings created last year, the economic trends were weakened and this resulted in layoffs in large scale.
At this juncture, with the just-begun elections, there is a considerable upsurge in demand for employees in media, PR, event management, social media, market research and many more. This is ultimately because of the huge hunt for vote by the political parties. However, it is also to be noted that these new openings are just temporary. Openings for permanent and standard jobs will result only after the election results are announced.
