7500 vacancies exist in Tamil Nadu Transport Corporations.
Interviews are going on at full swing for selection of candidates.
8 transport corporations function in Tamil Nadu – SETC (State Express Transport Corporation), Chennai Metro Transport Corporation, Villupram, Salem, Kumbakanam, Madurai, Coimbatore & Thirnelveli.
7500 vacancies exist in these 8 corporations for 6 different cadres consisting of drivers, conductors, Assistant Engineers, Junior Engineers, Technical Assistants, and Junior assistants,
The advertisements for these vacancies were place in newspapers on 2nd November.
Circulars were sent to the 27 employment exchanges throughout the state informing these vacancies on 3rd November asking for response.
Apart from employment exchange, 2.3 Lakh candidates applied for these vacancies.
2 Lakh applications were accepted for consideration for the next stage.
Interviews for these posts commenced on 10th December – at Chrompet for drivers, at Ayanavaram for conductors, and at the office of PRT in Anna Salai for all other posts.
50% of the interviews have been completed in the last 5 days.
It is expected that all balance interviews will be completed in the next 2 weeks.
Selections will be based on the marks scored and appointment orders would be made ready for all selected candidates before 31st January.
Drivers are selected based on the criteria of driving skill, eyesight, and physical health.
Conductors are selected based on the criteria of ability to handle the ticket bunches, offering the exact change to the passengers, and the ability to stand still in a moving bus.
