Delay in the completion of the beautification work at Chennai airport now!!

This piece of news might be a bitter pill to swallow for many flyers at the Chennai airport.

The news is that the beautification work taking place opposite to T1 domestic terminal at Chennai airport would be delayed. Truth is that this work should have been completed in October 2024 itself. It would now get completed only by the end of the month of February.

It must be recalled that 2 years back AAI or Airport Authority of India wanted to change the look and wanted to give a facelift to the airport in Chennai. The AAI had plans that included landscaping, construction of a new walkway and seating area.  The purpose for which facelift was planned was to help (by stopping for a little break) those who come to send off their relatives and friends.

The beautification work began in 2023 and it was supposed to have been completed in October 2024. There was a delay of a couple of months because of some issues in handing over the site to the contractor. It was confirmed by some AAI officials that about 90% of the work has been completed and by the end of February canopy installation would also get over.

It is superb to note that once completed both passengers as well as visitors would be benefited. The passengers and visitors arriving earlier could wait here and relax and then enter the terminal. To facilitate the project, the traffic pattern was changed at the airport.

According to some sources it was clear that food and beverage outlets and commercial points would also come up here. It was brought out by a frequent traveller that some kind of construction work has been going on at the airport constantly. He added that it was okay if large projects got delayed but small projects like beautification etc must be completed on time.
