If campus placements are to be considered as a symbol of the country’s financial health, it is to be noted that India is now in its recovery phase. It is seen that there is a 20 per cent growth in total placements for Engineering freshers this year.
Considering 2014, Sastra, a Thanjavur based university has placed 1450 students out of which over 1200 grabbed their placement at Tata Consultancy Services, whereas in 2013, the total placement was only 1100. This is observed as a good sign of recovery, says dean of the university.
Similarly, considering Vellore Institute of Technology, there is an increase in placement by 5 per cent. It is increased from 25 to 30 this year which again indicates the IT boom. Placements are well going this year and the final count of placement will be announced next week, says deputy director, placement, VIT. Over 52 companies have given offers to these students and the salary package ranges more than 5 lak per annum. There is a mass recruitment this year, he added. By thirteenth of this month, we would have a better idea of this year’s placement, he said.
