Amma Skill, Employment and Training Programme

Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Thursday announced a new training programme on an outlay of Rs. 32.50 crore. to give a boost to 9.68 lakh Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) in the State, especially to create manpower and infrastructure for these units,

Under the ‘Amma Skill, Employment and Training Programme,’ youths in the age group of 18-25 will get six months’ training, along with employment, in these enterprises. They will get Rs.5,000 in monthly stipend, and after the training, the government will pay Rs.12, 000 to the companies that taught the youths the skills. The students would be examined by the National Skill Development Corporation and issued certificates. The government would bear this cost, too. Ms. Jayalalithaa said 25,000 persons would get training in the current year and 30 per cent of the beneficiaries would be women.
