Which are the job vacancies that get filled directly through employment exchange?
All the vacancies in government jobs are filled by the Government Service examinations conducted by the Examination Centre.
Among the government jobs which are industry-oriented such as office assistants, cleaners, and security staff are filled through the list registered by the district employment exchanges.
Technical Jobs filled through the District Employment Exchanges:
Research/Lab assistants, research technical assistant, medicine handling assistants, X-ray specialists, and similar jobs are filled through the District Employment Exchange. In the transport departments, the posts of drivers, conductors, technical assistants, librarians for the village libraries, Sales-assistants in co-operative departments, and construction workers are filled through the District Employment Exchange.
Are there any priorities for job vacancies filled through employment exchanges?
Yes! Unsupported widows, inter-caste or inter-religion marriages, ex-military personnel & their dependents, dependents of military employees, Sri Lanka/ Myanmar refugees, persons who have lost both parents, and differently-abled persons will be given priority for appointment.
In fact, one out of every 5 recruitments through employment exchange is a differently-abled person. They also get a 10 year upper limit age concession.
