ISRO despite making huge strides in space, it has a long way to go in hiring graduates from top institutes like IIT. According to sources collected from the RTI application, only 2% employees working at the ISRO are from IITs or NITs.

As the satellite launch and interplanetary explorations are increasing as a more of commercial aspect day by day, it is important that ISRO will need products from premier institutes.

Speaking to the senior advisor of interplanetary mission at Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre, Thiruvanantahapuram, V Adimurthi, he says this is not just the trend in ISRO. IIT Kanpur alumnus say other sectors such as roadways or railways do not attract them too.

However, there is no differentiation found between IIT and non-IIT graduates by ISRO’s centralized recruitment system. What they are keen about is the strength in fundamentals irrespective of wherever you are from.
