The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) monitors the prices of various essential medicines for the public sold by pharmacies and regulates them.

Recently, pharmaceutical manufacturers appealed for an upward revision of the prices of medicines, as the cost of ingredients has increased, resulting in higher manufacturing expenses.

The NPPA approved this appeal and gave permission to increase the prices of certain medicines. Consequently, it is learned that pharmaceutical manufacturers have decided to raise the prices of analgesic medicines, medicines for immunity against infections, medicines related to heart-related issues, medicines for micro-organisms, and other essential medicines from 1st April.

As a result, the prices of around 800 essential medicines, including medicines for fever, infection, skin complaints, high blood pressure, anemia, and heart-related issues, will be increased by 10.7% from 1st April.
