Divine flag hoisting ceremony performed today to commence Utharayana Punya Kala Brahmotsavam at Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunachaleswarar Temple!

The traditional, annual, grand celebration of the ‘Utharayana Punyak Kaala Brahmotsavam’ (The grand annual divine festival celebrated during the Summer Half of the year) commenced today (Wednesday, 5th December) at the Thiruvannamalai Lord Arunchaleswarar Temple.

As per the Hindu traditional calendar, the period when the SUN travels from North to South covering the Tamil Calendar months from Aadi to Margazhi is known as ‘Dakshinaayana Punya Kaalam’.

The period when the Sun travels from the South to the North during the Tamil Calendar months from Thai to Aani is known as Utharayana Punya Kaalam’.

The above traditional Utharayana Punya Kaalam Brahmotsavam commenced yesterday (Tuesday, 4th February) at the famous Lord Arunachaleswarar Temple at Thiruvannamalai.

Sp4ecial Abhishekhams and Deepaaradhanais were performed for the deities of the Moolavar (The idol of the Main God) Lord Arunachaleswarar, His Consort Goddess Unnamulai Amman and the other deities in the temple.

After the Special Abhishekhams and Deepaaradhanais, the Divine Flag-Hoisting Ceremony was performed at the Golden Pole Tree located in front of the Sanctum Sanctorum of Lord Arunachaleswarar with divine music on the Nadaswaram and the chanting of Vedas and Slokas by the Sivacharyas!

During this Divine Flag-Hoisting Ceremony, thousands of devotees witnessing the occasion kept shouting, “ Annamalaiyarukku Arohara!!”
