On Tuesday, the TN school education department allowed the schools to allot groups to the students based on a test if the schools receive more applications than the available seats in class 11.
Due to Covid-19 pandemic, the state government had cancelled bard exams for class 10 students and in the absence of quarterly and half yearly exams the school education department issued a circular to conduct tests.
The circular from the school education commissioner Mr. Nandha Kumar to all chief education officers stated that whichever stream receives more applications then the school must conduct tests based on questions taken from relevant subjects in lower classes. The circular also pointed out that 50 multiple choice questions or MCQs must be prepared and based on the marks scored the groups could be allotted for the students. If lesser applications were received by the school when compared to the available seats, then seats could be allotted based on students interest.
