Revamping the syllabuses of school students to suit the industrial needs!!
The news is that the school education department in TN has revamped the syllabuses of vocational courses of classes 11 and 12 based on the industrial requirements in association with TNSDC or Tamil Nadu Skill Development Corporation.
In this new syllabus, the students would get more hands-on experience and industrial exposure depending on the industrial needs. It was later revealed by a senior official belonging to the school education department that the syllabus of eight vocational subjects has been revamped and upgraded to enhance progressive growth, vertical mobility and employability of the future generations etc.
The senior official spoke about how employability skills have been introduced as a 6th subject for vocational education. Point is that it would give importance to soft skills such as communication skills, ICT skills and entrepreneurial skills etc. A seven member steering committee was formed to revamp the vocational syllabuses and textbooks etc. Consultative meetings were held by the expert panel and revamping of 8 vocational subjects was suggested.
Not only that, the expert panel also suggested introduction of internship to the vocational students in industries related to their course plus the alignment of revised syllabi with the course content of NSQF or National Skill Qualification Framework recognised by TNSDC and introduction of employability skills subject for all vocational groups. It is said that the alignment of the revised syllabi with the course content of NSQF would help the students get vocational qualification from the school education dept and industry recognised skill completion certificate.
