Chennai Airport to Operate 206 Special Flights for Summer Travel Surge

Chennai Airport has announced the operation of 206 special flights to accommodate the increasing passenger traffic during the summer season. This includes 42 international and 164 domestic flights, introduced under the "Summer Special" initiative.

With summer vacations in full swing and temperatures soaring across the country, a significant rise in air travel has been observed. The usual daily passenger count of 50,000 at Chennai Airport is now expected to surpass 55,000, nearing 60,000 due to increased travel demand.

Expanded Flight Services:

Chennai - Sri Lanka:

- Air India increases weekly flights from 7 to 10
- SpiceJet launches 7 new weekly flights
- Alliance Airlines resumes 7 weekly flights to Jaffna

Chennai - Kuwait:

- Air India Express increases frequency from 5 to 7 weekly flights

To manage this surge, the Airports Authority of India (AAI) has strategically boosted flight operations, ensuring smooth and efficient travel for passengers.
