A High level coordination meeting between Chennai Police and bank officials to stop bank frauds and cyber crimes etc!!

Digital technology is not only a boon, but it is also bane for the people!!

These days, many fraudsters make hay (involve in easy money making) by cheating the public and many digital crimes or cyber crimes take place using digital technology.

To stop the bank frauds and cybercrimes from happening and to protect the public, on Wednesday a high level coordination meeting took place between the Chennai law enforcement officials or Police department and banking authorities or officials.

The Vepery Police Commissionerate conference hall was full of activities on Wednesday as the above said meeting took place based on an order from the Chennai police commissioner Mr. A. Arun. The objective behind this meeting was to strengthen collaboration for swift resolution of complaints, recovery of defrauded funds and prevention of digital crimes.

As many as 75 senior officials belonging to 41 both public and private banks took part in the high level coordination meeting with the police personnel. The meeting saw representatives from RBI or Reserve Bank of India. The meeting was presided over by the additional commissioner of police (Central Crime Branch) A. Radhika.

The meeting brought to light how in the year 2023 Central Crime Branch registered 32 bank fraud cases and arrested as many as 118 persons. As many as 87 suspects were apprehended in 8 cases filed so far in 2024 with superb cooperation from the banks. 

The additional commissioner of police (Central Crime Branch) A. Radhika explained about the important need for seamless coordination between banks and the police dept to identify and deter cyber criminals.
