WRD to Launch Online Portal for Faster NOC Approvals
Chennai: The Water Resources Department (WRD) will soon launch an online portal for issuing No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to streamline approvals and enhance transparency. The portal, developed by the Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency, is expected to be ready in a few months.
WRD processes over 650 applications monthly, including requests from government agencies, industries, and residents for infrastructure projects and borewell construction. The new system will allow applicants to track their requests online, reducing delays. However, field verification and impact assessments will continue before approvals.
Additionally, WRD is implementing an e-Office system across Tamil Nadu to improve efficiency, starting with Chennai. The full transition is expected within two to three months, officials said.
