Aspirants wishing to become teachers can now graduate from open universities after completing Class 10 and Class 12, following a new notification from the Tamil Nadu Teachers Education University (TNTEU). Previously, those earning a B.Ed through open education were ineligible to teach.
The TNTEU clarified that students who obtain a degree directly from a recognized open university without completing Class X and XII cannot apply for the B.Ed program. Additionally, candidates must secure at least 50% in their degree to qualify for B.Ed courses this academic year.
To ensure proper training, the university will monitor second-year B.Ed students during their mandatory 80-day training in government schools. This decision follows complaints about irregularities, including fake attendance reports. The TNTEU emphasized that action will be taken against any school management found promoting trainees with false attendance.
