Southern Railway is making remarkable progress in its modernization efforts with the second phase of the Chennai-Bengaluru high-speed rail project. This initiative focuses on upgrading trains, tracks, and signals, enabling speeds of up to 130 km/h and reducing travel times significantly.
According to a senior official, improvements between Arakkonam and Jolarpettai have already cut travel times by 20 minutes. Similar upgrades are underway on the Jolarpettai-Bengaluru section. The Vande Bharat Express is expected to complete the journey in around 4 hours, compared to the current 4 hours 25-35 minutes, while other services like the Shatabdi Express and Double Decker Express will also benefit.
This transformative project is set to enhance passenger experience and revolutionize rail travel on one of South India`s busiest routes.
