CBSE has recently introduced the Open-Text Based Assessment (OTBA) scheme for classes IX and XI this academic year. Now it calls for the online feedback for this OTBA from the schools and the students.

OTBA has been pioneered as a module for five subjects in class IX and three subjects in class XI. The main aim of the CBSE board is to relieve students from ‘mugging up’ and steers them on attaining skills in information processing, comprehension, analysis and critical thinking, amid others.

Based on the open text already given to students by the board, now the questions have been presented in Hindi, Mathematics, Science and Social Science for class IX and Geography, Economics and biology annual examination papers for class XII.

Students feedback has been positive; yet after evaluating the key we will get the fine view of the stands of the students, says Suma Padmanabhan, principal, Asan Memorial Senior Secondary School.

Feedback questionnaire available on the CBSE Website asks for feedback on aspects relating to relevance, application, and conduct of the test, whether OTBA has helped students to think beyond the syllabus, whether it is an extension of concepts taught to them, and if there were any administrative difficulties during implementation, among other aspects.
