With the feedback from revenue and police departments as the base, Election Commission has classified 9027 polling booths of the total count, 60473 to be critical. The announcement was made by an officer at chief electoral office yesterday. Out of these many, Vilupuram is in the lead having 954 such sensitive polling booths, whereas Nagapattinam has the least count with just 40. On the whole, the count of critical booths account for 15 per cent of total number in the state.
The officer added that 32 companies of para-military forces will reach Tamil Nadu on Thursday. They will be allotted with one district each. Over 200 such companies will be deployed in the state for election duties. Simultaneously, police and revenue officials will keep track of expenditures made by candidates after they submit their final nominations.
Speaking to a police officer, he stressed that they will have an avid focus on expenditure details and monitor it routinely.
