Change in traffic pattern in Anna Salai – Sundar Road leaves commuters troublesome

Traffic patterns are modified at most places of the city on account of the ongoing Metro Rail works. Anna Salai – Sundar road junction is one among these modified travel areas. Because of the change of traffic pattern here, it has turned to be a risky route to travel through. Vehicles from Sundar Road travelling towards Guindy have to pass through Anna Salai. When they reach the junction they naturally have to get in traffic along with the mass of vehicles proceeding towards Gemini Bridge. Both these together are risky on the path.

Adding fuel to the fire is the absence of any sign board or speed breaker. Those unaware of this new traffic pattern, get a sudden jerk when they find sudden inflow of traffic flooding from Sundar Road. Speaking to a lecturer who recently migrated to Chennai stated about his bad experience, “I was travelling at a quite good speed since road was empty in the noon. I was driving towards Gemini Bridge and concentrated only on the vehicles across it. Unexpectedly, I found couple of vehicles rushing in front, emerging out of a small road (Sundar Road) that urged me to press on a sudden break!”
