2,800 applications received during special drive

Over 2,800 applications were received from eligible voters during the special voters’ enrolment campaign held across the State recently. Based on the directions of the Election Commission of India, a special campaign was conducted on March 16 to give another chance for eligible persons to enrol themselves in the voters’ list.
A total of 2,806 applications were received during the special campaign and these are under process. All those eligible will be enrolled, said Chief Electoral Officer Praveen Kumar.
Meanwhile, in Chennai, only a total of 119 applications had been received from eligible voters at the special camps held at the polling booths of four assembly constituencies — R K Nagar, Perambur, Thousand lights and Mylapore.
