Though the climate was hot yesterday, there is still some time left to face the heat. For the next few days, the maximum temperature will be around the normal and won’t shoot up, said Y E A Raj, deputy director general of India Meteorological Department in Chennai.
While the maximum temperature for March is 33° C, the temperature touched 34.6°C in Nungambakkam and it was 35°C in Meenambakkam on Tuesday and Wednesday. “Tuesday was warmer than previous days in March, when the city recorded 31°C or 32°C. The maximum over the next two days may go one or two degrees above or below normal, but it will be under control because of the strong winds from the east,” said Raj. “Only after two or three days we’ll know how the rest of the month is going to be.” Till Monday, the maximum temperature was just around 32°C. Though the afternoons were hot, mist was reported in some areas of the city early on Monday morning.
