BBC Tamil gets deep into Tamil comedy scenes

BBC Tamil is set ready to make a new stride with Tamil film comedies. They are about to launch a 15 part weekly radio series from March 30. This will include the history behind each and every comedy scene and its evolution. This will be presented and produced by Sampath Kumar, a former BBC journalist.

What is it all about?

This series will have actors, script writers, film critics, researchers, etc. They will all be invited for the program to share their good memories and experiences in working for comedy sequences in specific films. Speaking to Sampath, he says he is very thrilled and entertained to work for the radio series. “It is entertaining and joyful,” he added.

This program will be broadcasted on all Sundays at 15.45 GMT. Listeners can also check the site bbctamil.com to hear the program online. When asked about his views about the series, Thirumalai Manivannan, a BBC Tamil Editor said Tamil film industry is successful more than a century and has showed several highlights in varied genres. He added that the program will definitely have many fun elements in it.
