On a daily basis, all the banks including both public and private sectors need to produce the report on its wary transactions, avowed by the Chennai District Election Office.
Early this week, the district election office has conducted a meeting with the representative of 1000 branches of around 42 banks, insisting them to monitor irregular transactions.
The cash dealings in most of the bank branches, has descent down to 30 % due to restrictive rules framed by the banks ahead for the election poll, stated by an official of the public sector bank.
Each district election office has heading for the banks to hand out the documentations to the traders and residents who pull out more than Rs. 50,000. Flowingly, the residents who are carrying a high amount of cash needs to show their documentations to the surveillance team (a team of around 48 officers) on interception of their automobile, said the official.
Till now, nearly 1.37 lakh residents, make their claims for their enclosure in the electoral rolls. Work for entering the data is in process and about 1.11 lakh applications have been accepted. Booth-level officers will doorstep in the homes of the applicants to cross check the data, stated by the election officer.
