increasing disorders due to extensive use of gadgets

Gadget-caused disorders and ailments are increasing in numbers in the recent years. In the recent past, physicians faced a new disorder called ‘cellphone elbow’ and now, ‘The Lancet’, a medical journal published reports on sufferings of a young woman with wrist pain. The reason was diagnosed to be extensive use of gadgets. It is found that extensive or prolonged use of gadget leads to repetitive strain injuries. Speaking to a physician, he said he wants the patient to list out the names of gadgets they use in order to identify the type of disease they may be suffering with.

Below are three of the most common disorders caused due to overuse of gadgets:
  • Cellphone elbow – patient will experience numbness in ring and little fingers. This is because of bending elbow tightly for prolonged time
  • Android thumb – recurring pain in finger because of extensive use of android devices
  • Computer vision syndrome – this is very common among extensive computer or laptop users. The user will develop dry eyes, blurred vision and experience strain in eyes.
Additionally, psychological problems like internet addition disorder are also developing eventually. Everything has its own good and bad!
