The +2 math exam that took place on March 14 created commotion because of printing mistakes in the question paper. On account of this, the government has decided to give bonus marks of 8 and 7 for Tamil and English medium students respectively. There were mistakes in two places. The exam paper had the word ‘B’ instead of another mathematical indication “Rho” under the one mark question session. Similarly, under the six marks question session, in the 47th question, instead of ‘log x base e’, it was printed as ‘log e to the power x’. For both these questions, there is no possibility for the students to give correct answers.
Further to this, the math teachers from across the city pleaded to provide full marks to the students if they have at least attended the question. In general, in SSLC examinations, providing full mark for such mistaken questions will be considered only for grace marks.
Just like the conventional procedure, a team of expert math teachers were formed to discuss on how to proceed with the issue and have finally come up with providing full marks for the question if the student has made a mere attempt.
