Here is something exciting for all Chennaites!
The test run for Chennais very first metro rail connecting Koyambedu and Alandur will take place on May 15 following which the train will be made available for the use of public by end of October.
Chennai metro rail project is taking place in full swing at a cost of Rs 16,500 crore. Initially, the metro rail was planned to be set up between St. Thomas mount and Koyambedu. But due to several reasons, the metro rail department chose Alandur instead of St. Thomas mount. Accordingly, the first metro rail will connect Alandur and Koyambedu at a length of over 10 kilometers.
Chief Minister, J. Jayalalitha inaugurated the trial run of metro rail at Koyambedu Panimalai on 6th November. Later, on 14th February, yet another test run took place between Koyambedu and Ashok Nagar. And now, it is the turn for test run between Alandur and Ashok Nagar. This path that stretches over 175 meters is getting ready with electrical and track laying works. These works are expected to get completed by May 10 and hence the date for test run is fixed on May 15.
