Hike in BSNL broadband charges

The telecom service provider BSNL in Chennai has come up with revised tariff for its broadband services effective from May 1. Below is an excerpt from the reports issued by BSNL:
Charges on broadband rural combo U.L.D – 500 and broadband combo U.L.D – 950 will be hiked. Below are the old and new rates for monthly, annual, 2 years and 3 years plans.
BROADBAND RURAL COMBO U.L.D – 500
- Monthly charges – old rate Rs 500; new rate Rs 550
- Annual charges – old rate Rs 5500; new rate Rs 6050
- Charges for 2 years – old rate Rs 10500; new rate Rs 11550
- Charges for 3 years – old rate Rs 15000; new rate Rs 16500
BROADBAND COMBO U.L.D – 900
- Monthly charges – old rate Rs 950; new rate Rs 999
- Annual charges – Old rate Rs 10450; new rate Rs 10989
- Charges for 2 years – old rate Rs 19950; new rate Rs 20979
- Charges for 3 years – old rate Rs 28500; new rate Rs 29970
BSNL also added that they have been providing 3G data services at reduced rate compared to other telecom companies.
