Permit to be cancelled if found defective in school buses – Transport Department

33 squads have been formed to check & analyse the operation & maintenance of all school & college vehicles in Tamil Nadu. The squads will start operations after the parliamentary elections. The transport department has warned that the permit for the vehicles will be cancelled if any deficiency is fund.

There are 36,389 vehicles operated by the various schools & colleges in Tamil Nadu. A detailed analysis has been carried out on the safety aspects for these vehicles not to get involved in accidents. Checks will be conducted wither by visiting the educational institution or getting the vehicle for a check. His will be taken up after the parliamentary elections.

Focus on the check will include 33 aspects covering emergency exit door operation, the windows, steps, fire extinguishers, First-Aid box, Hand-brake, speed-limiter operation, and the drivers’ eyesight.

Each squad will consist of a regional transport officer and 2 transport analysis specialists. FC will not be issued if any defects are fund. If there are major defects, permit will be cancelled. Analysis will be conducted on the operations of the parent-teacher committees of the school and the operations of the district transport committee.
