United Nations organization has come up with a study report that Indians lag in having secured and safe drinking water and sanitation facilities. In the year 1997, the World Health Organization fixed a target, ‘good living for everyone’ within the year 2000. It said this could be achieved by making ensuring basic and primitive health to everyone. However, few countries like India couldn’t achieve this due to several reasons.

In this scenario, the United Nations announced a new target, ‘Millennium Development Goal’ to the countries included in it. Further to this, a Delhi based charity trust monitored the developments in India in proper toilet faculties and drinking water supply, and the final reports were submitted to the United Nations in March which then was announced on last 10th.

Speaking to the former director of department of public health, Tamil Nadu, he said that safe and secured drinking water supply is not provided to people residing in both city as well as villages. As of now, the possibility of supplying healthy drinking water here is 99.6% in city and 97% in villages.
