Two bombs exploded in Train No.12509 Bangalore – Guwahati tri-weekly express when the train was at Chennai Central station around 07.15 hrs. on 01.05.2014, Thursday.Three coaches – S 3, S 4 and S 5 – were affected due to the explosion.One passenger was killed, 2 passengers were seriously injured and 12 passengers received minor injuries due to the explosion.The injured have been admitted to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai.
Security has been intensified at Chennai Central railway station and other trains are running as per schedule.

An amount of Rs.50,000 has been announced as an immediate relief measure to the deceased.An amount of Rs.25,000 each has been announced as relief to the 2 seriously injured passengers and Rs.5,000 each has been announced as relief to the 12 passengers who suffered minor injuries.

A post-mortem examination has been performed upon Ms. Swaty and the injured are being treated at the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, Chennai.
