Good sales of Engineering applications on first day of sale

Applications for the single window counselling for engineering admissions in Tamil Nadu were issued at Anna University at 6.30am on Saturday, three hours before scheduled time. A total of 67,935 applications were sold across the state on the first day.
Police and security personnel at the university had warned about the crowding of candidates and parents near the centre. More than 500 applications were sold by 8am.
Anna University had designated four venues across the city for the distribution, but many seemed unaware of this. Counselling is likely to begin in the third week of June depending on the medical counselling and is expected to completed by July 31. There are 570 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu offering 2, 05,473 seats in various streams. In 2013, more than 2.37 lakh applications were sold and about 1.27 lakh seats allotted through single window counselling.
About 500 applications were sold at the Anna University campus in Guindy by 8am on Saturday
