A new study suggests that those who are short would actually have longer lifetime than the rest. A research based on Kuakini Honolulu Heart Program (HHP) and the Kuakini Honolulu-Asia Aging Study (HAAS) says in Japanese men, there is a direct link between a short height and lifetime period. In the research, Dr. Bradley Willcox and a professor in University of Hawaai (UH) John A split an entire group of people in two groups – one with people 5.4 and taller and the other with 5.2 and shorter. From the study, the researchers identified shorter people had longer life.

Those short men and women will have the protective form o FOXO3, a longevity gene. It is this gene that is the underlying reason for shorter height in such people. Such shorter people will also have lesser chances for cancer and low blood insulin. Dr. Willcox says this study result to be the very first one that links gene with body size.
