On behalf of the TamilNadu Science and Technology centre, a summer science camps for school students has been instigated on Monday.
This program has
been set off in Chennai Periyar Science Technology center and it last till 14th
May. This program was commenced under the leadership of G. Vijayakumar, chief
Mental Health Advisor of Visaga Mental Health Advising Center.
To encourage the
school students and to augment their interest and to clear their fear in the
science field, we are conducting this camp, says P. Iyanperumal, director of
TamilNadu Science and Technology Centre.
Students in the class of 7, 8 and 9 have been participated in this
event.
This program
starts at 10am and ends by 4pm; it covers classed including Physics, Maths,
Astronomy, Practical Science, Yoga and Mental Theory. Additionally, practical
sessions for crafting designs were also included.
During the first
day of this camp, special classes on entertainment physics and Maths through
play mode had been conducted. Nearly 70 students from many schools gave their
active participation. For about 10 students from Chennai corporation school
have been admitted free of cost.
After schools
reopens, all the government and government aided school students will be arranged
to participate in this event.
This event
includes detailed explanation on basic Astronomy and about the procedures on
monitoring the astronomical events with plain eyes.
Many legends including senior scientists G. DuraiRaj and GanaMuthu actively participated in this event.
