Lakhs of devotees witness Lord Kallazhagar entering into River Vaigai

Today (14th May) Morning, Lord Kallazhagar, attired in green silk dress, entered the Vaidai River ridiing a golden horse carrier in the presence of tens of thousands of devotees.
The occasion of Lord Kallazhagar entering the Vaigai River in the golden horse carrier is one the most important and celebrated annual event. It was performed today with all grandeur and glitters.
Tens of thousands of devotees thronged the River vaigai right from the early morning despite the fact that there was no water in the river. The devotees started gathering from the previous night in order to have a ‘darshan’ of Lord Kallazhagar.
At 2.30 AM in the dawn of the day (14th May), Lord kallazhagar strted the journey towards the Vaiagi River. He was adorned with a grand green silk dress and the special garland worn by his consort, Goddess Andal. Thronged and surrounded by countless devotees, the Lord entered the Vaigai River at 6.10 AM. The enthralled swarm of devotees chanted the name of ‘Govinda... Govinda!’ with ecstasy.
Some devotees, dresses as Lord Kallazhagar, vjoyfully sprayed holy water on the deity of Lord Kallazhagar. Around 10,00,000 devotees, standing on the river & its banks, standing on the nearby bridges, were thrilled to have the ‘darshan’
The entire city of Madurai wore a grand, festive look.
Over 10,000 police have been deployed on this occasion for security purposes.
