According to Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL) officials, the construction of flyover at Vadapalani junction at a cost of Rs 69 crore will be floated in later days of this month. The sources added that the work will not be completed until next year. CMRL officials cleared that the delay in flyover construction will in no way affect the functioning of metro rail in the city that is planned to commence in next six months.
Amidst this, a deposit of Rs 30 crore is made with CMRL by the highways department towards construction of 600m long flyover. The department is in full swing works for forming service lanes, construction of storm water drains, works to lay footpaths, etc. Such works are almost done and they are planning to commence the work in a small portion where the land acquisition is in its final stage.
