The Tamilnadu Infrastructure
Development Corporation has informed that it would plant 10 sapling for every
one tree felled. Trees have been felled to widen the roads. There was petition
in High court against felling of trees. TNIDC filed counter affidavit saying
that the corporation had earmarked Rs 25 lakhs and Rs 27 lakhs respectively for
planting trees on both side of the road and said that the Corporation would
undertake to replace felled trees with ten saplings planted to compensate the
felling once the land acquisition process was completed.. The bench comprising
of Chief Justice H L M Gokhale and Justice V Dhanarajan were satisfied and
disposed off the case.
