Nearly 15,000 Coastline Buildings Inventory for Abuse in CRZ – Chennai Corporation

Chennai Corporation has reported a list of above 15,000 coastline buildings for intrusion of Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) revelation.

The Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA), will soon endow maps representing the CRZ spots, trusted sources notified City Express.

The Corporation system will spot the CRZ areas in the zone map and prepare an inventory of the streets for every zone. These arrangements are believed to be done for distinguishing CRZ zones in the landward plane for tranquil recognition.

Initial phase of this study will be furnished by the Consultant. Later it will be assessed by the Coordination Committee that includes Chennai Corporation Commissioner, Chief Planner of Area Plans Unit, CMDA Member Secretary, City Engineer of Chennai Corporation, Environment Deputy Planner and Senior Planner of Enforcement Cell in CMDA.

Sources said that the study will impart inventory of on hand buildings built after 1991. It may give a record of the illicit buildings along the coastal area and facilitate updation and enforcement deed in an endless way. This study will recognize every building by its address (along with the door number & street).

After the detailed study, both the Chennai Corporation and CMDA will organize awareness or campaigns on diverse features of CRZ to sensitize the public, the sources added.
