In Tamil Nadu, it is solely the 10,000 windmills present here that helps manage the frequent power cuts occurring in the state. Despite the helpfulness of such windmills, the electricity department has always been struggling without having enough arrangements to transmit the generated power to consumers in case of excessive power generation.
During last month, an excessive power cut was imposed in Tamil Nadu owing to lack of power generation. Amidst this situation, in the past 10 days, there has been increased blow of wind in parts of Western Ghats. This moderate and steady blow of wind has hugely helped the generation of wind energy.
During last month, the amount of power generated from windmills was completely zero, but now, the power generated is surprisingly more than 1500 MW. On Friday, the total power generated was 1995 MW. On account of this increased power generation, power cut is withdrawn from various districts across the state.
