The high Court has ordered Anna University to release the ‘Merit List’ on the internet.

Mr. Boopalsamy from Chennai has submitted a petition in this regard: The petition observes:

  • There are more than 500 engineering colleges in Tamil Nadu. Many colleges have been advertising for admission. The students find it difficult to find out & decide which colleges have all the basic facilities.
  • So, every college must release the details on last year’s success percentage and the various facilities and the infrastructure in their colleges. This should be released through Anna University. This should be made available on the internet.
  • Also, the system of several colleges functioning under one name should be stopped.
  • The Interim Chief Justice, Mr. Agnihothri, & Mr. Sathyanarayanan, took this petition and gave the verdict:
  • All government & private engineering colleges should release the success percentage. This was already done by Anna University. It should be done for the last years performance as well.
  • The details of several engineering colleges functioning under one name should be probed and AICTE should take civil & criminal action.
  • The infrastructure and the facilities available in all government & private engineering colleges should be checked regularly. Anna University should order and publish a report.
  • Before the commencement of counselling for the new admissions for the next academic year, the success percentage of the last year for all colleges should be released on the internet within 2 weeks.

Anna University should gather the data & advertise the same.
