It’s very heartening to note that the TN Government has allocated the highest for Education in the budget. More than Rs 10000 Crores has been allocated towards the development of education in the state. There would be contribution to Sarva Sikshya Abhiyan {SSA} to the tune of Rs 540 Crores. More that Rs 767 crores would be spent  for development of infrastructure  and other facilities in the government schools with  assistance from National Bank for Agricultural and Rural Development [NABARD] ; which will benefit about 850 schools. There is also planned allocation to developing  a Medical college in Thiruvannamalai  and Arts and Science colleges in the places like Theni, Pudukottai and other parts of TN with central assistance; these apart from setting up of Engineering colleges under Anna University, Madurai  in Madurai, Dindigul, Theni ,Sivaganga and \r Ramanathapuram districts.. Budget allocation is in place providing English-Tamil – English dictionaries free of cost to 9th standard students at a cost of Rs 50 Crores. A welcome initiative is making Post Graduate studies free. . In fact if government can also pay incentives to poor students it will encourage students to  take up post graduation and following it with Research. It the current globally competitive environment quality matters; in such scenario under graduation is not enough
Government‘s initiative is very laudable as it will prove the proverb:  ‘Give someone education, he  can take  of his life,, right . Once individual gets education, not only would he takes care of his life, education would widen outlook and improve his attitude towards his society as first step towards Utopian society is the Individual discipline.
