Tamil Nadu government has decided to sell salt at a cheaper price. The plan (and the product) is called ‘Amma salt’.
3 different types of Amma salt will be on sales: Amma slat with iron & Iodine, purified iodised Amma salt, and Amma salt with low Sodium.
The first category will sell at Rs. 14/- per kg (Rs. 22/- per kg in open market). The second category will sell at Rs. 10/- per kg (Rs. 16/- in open market). The third category will sell at Rs. 21/- per kg (Rs. 25/- in open market).
Sales of ‘Amma salt’ will be inaugurated by the Chief Minister, Jayalalithaa in the Chief Secretariat tomorrow, Wednesday, 11th June.
Tamil Nadu Salt Company, owned by the Tamil Nadu State Government, manufactures the 3 types of Amma salt. A manufacturing plant has been set in the village of Valinokkam, Ramad district. In the first stage, 100 tons of salt has been manufactured and put up for sales.
Amma salt will be available for sales in Amudham Stores, Chinthamani Cooperatiove Stores, and the ration shops of Cooperative department.
