Launched by chief minister J Jayalalithaa in September 2012 the Education Management Information System (EMIS) will now have a database of all government schools, pass percentage, profiles of all teachers and students, non-teaching staff and other school related information.

Students will soon be able to access all subject-related matter and exam-related material on a digital platform.Question banks and self-preparatory tests for higher secondary school students and reference material for teachers will be made available online in three months. This may help several class 12 students who have already received free laptops from the government. And for students from class 1 to 12, important definitions, pictures/diagrams related to their subjects will be uploaded online.
