The southwest monsoon rain finally arrived in the Nilgiris, bringing relief to farmers but Ooty is yet to get its share.
Though the hills near Gudalur got some heavy showers in the past few days, the onset of the monsoon was delayed by at least three weeks in the Nilgiris, leaving farmers worried.
With an average of 23.5mm of rain recorded till 8am on Friday in the district, the catchment areas near Gudalur received typical heavy monsoon showers. However, Ooty received only 4mm rainfall.
