Tamil film director and producer Ramanarayanan passed away

Tamil film director and producer Ramanarayanan (65) who was admitted to the hospital in Singapore for a kidney-related ailment passed away yesterday evening. He has directed 125 films which is supposed to be the maximum number.
 
Known for devotional and commercial comedy entertainers, he made his directorial debut with 1980 Tamil film "Meenakshi" and went on to direct several Tamil blockbusters such as "Veeran", "Sahadevan Mahadevan", "Anjatha Singam" and "Kandha Kadamba Kathir Vela".
 
Some of his best devotional hit films include "Aadi Velli", "Durga", aceThai Poosam" and "Bhairavi". He was also known for including a lot of animal characters in most of these films.
 
Naryanan`s last film was last year`s "Arya Surya". In the last few years, he had been distributing several Tamil films under his home banner Sri Thendral Films.
 
Considering his experience in the field, it came as no surprise for most in the industry when he was elected the head of Tamil Film Producers` Council for three consecutive terms. Narayanan was also elected MLA from Karaikudi in 1989. and the chairman of Iyal Isai Nataka Mandram in 1996.
 
His mortal remains are expected to be brought to Chennai for final rites on Tuesday.
