Chief Minister, Tamilnadu announced that the Government would institute Awards
for the emerging entrepreneurs. MK Stalin was speaking in a function of CII,
Tamilnadu chapter held for the distribution of the first “CII Tamil Nadu Emerging Entrepreneurs Awards” on Sunday. He
pointed out that Tamilnadu was among the top Indian states in attracting global
companies and said that the SME s accounted for 40% of the exports. The Deputy
Chief Minister also said the government was examining a request from industry
to review the service tax levied by the Pollution Control Board.

Chairman, CII Award Committee paid a tribute to management guru C.K.Prahalad. C.K.Ranganathan,
immediate past chairman of CII Tamil Nadu State Council, said the awards were
aimed at bringing many unsung heroes to the limelight. K.Venugopal, Joint
Editor, The Hindu Business Line, said the awards were modeled on the Singapore
E50 and attempted to showcase entrepreneurial talent.
