With number of students preferring
to join PG courses, Madras
University has decided to
abolish the entrance test for PG courses. The students will be given spot
admissions subject reservation policies of the Government. Vice-Chancellor G. Thiruvasagam, the vice Chancellor of
the University said in a press meet here on Wednesday that the university had
18 schools and 72 departments with courses ranging from music to
nanotechnology. He said that the
University observed that some PG courses attracted very little response because
of the entrance examination, being a reason. Beside the university wanted to
maximize the available resources and therefore this special drive to attract
students. It had also revamped the courses to meet the requirement of civil
service and State service examinations. The last date for accepting
applications for PG courses is May 5.
