Reserve Bank of India has released two commemorative coins in tribute of divine personalities. One of them depicts the image of Vaishnav Devi, a deity (located in the State of Jammu and Kashmir)adored and worshipped, all over India. The other coin carries the images of Acharya Tulsi, a saint worshipped by the Jain community at large. He has been a writer, speaker, preacher and guide to the entire Jain community and has initiated the process of Anuvrata, a code of conduct to be followed by those who cannot undertake the vigorous discipline Jainism demands from its disciples. This coin has been issues at the request of a very large number of people cutting across all religions.
Pouches containing the coins have been prepared by the Sugal Group for free distribution among believers in the community at large. The write up on the card to which the two coins are affixed includes a saying by Acharya Sri Tulsi, pointing out that ‘the language of Dharma is beyond schisms such as caste, creed and community”.
